The ONTORULE project is pleased to announce the final release of the steel industry use case demonstrator. This piece of software showcases the ONTORULE technologies in the context of the quality control in the galvanization line of ArcelorMittal. The system uses production rules to identify quality issues in steel coils, and supports decision-making on the products.

A version of the demonstrator is available for you to try, showing data that is similar to the actual data of the production line. You can explore a number of coils, the defects and phenomena that have been found on them, and the decisions proposed by the rules. Some coils that fail to meet the original requirements are reassigned to less restrictive orders.

We have uploaded the presentations of the workshop organised at CASCON'2011 to slideshare. The event was set as a general introduction of the ONTORULE project including as well a description of the architecture. Following, a number of hands-on sessions enabling the audience to touch some of the technologies developed within the project were carried out: starting with a practical session featuring TERMINAE and SemeX, another one presenting Parrot and TELIX came after to end with a final session about grounding business rules in OWL2 ontologies.

Following the series presenting the outcomes of the ONTORULE project, we are glad to present another tool developed for the D2.4 Extended demonstrators for dissemination, teaching and public experimentation purposes: Semex

SemEx is a platform designed to assist business analysts in building a base of business rules out of a policy document, the resulting set of candidate rules being used as the specification of a business rule application. This platform allows to link textual elements to conceptual resources and to rules. This is helpful to design simplified, self-content and comprehensive rules, as well as to explore the rule base and trace rule information back to the texts from which it is originated.

Future releases will be available at the SEMEX LIPN website.

The ONTORULE project and some of its outcomes have been recently giving France plenty to talk about.

One of the outcomes of the project, the Terminae tool, has been demoed by Sylvie Szuman in the 22èmes Journées francophones d’Ingénierie des Connaissances (IC2011), in Chambéry, where other ontorulers were also participating.

Also, the project's activity was introduced in a seminar at the Edelweiss Research team home (INRIA - Sophia Antipolis) on November the 16th.
